The Soulful Sketchbook

Imagine having a place where you can say and do whatever you want, where you are loved and accepted exactly as you are.

Stop "Saving" the Good Paper.

I’m here to help you thrive creatively.

After years of personal and professional experience, I am so excited to share all the lessons I have learned about art journaling.

Stop "Saving" the Good Paper.

Make 2026 the year you finally fill that sketchbook and art journal—imperfectly, messily, and honestly.

Does this sound like you?

  • The Supply Hoarder: You have a drawer full of beautiful washi tape, expensive watercolor paper, and untouched pens that you are "saving" for when you are "good enough" to use them.

  • The Blank Page Phobe: You open a pristine new notebook, stare at the white rectangle, feel a wave of anxiety, and close it. “I’ll ruin it,” you whisper.

  • The Burnout: You work digitally all day. You crave the feeling of paper and texture, but you don’t have the energy to start a "Masterpiece."

  • Expand Your Creativity: Break through the blocks to turn your visions into reality

I see you. I used to be you.

We live in a world that demands high-gloss perfection. But your art journal isn’t for the gallery. It isn’t for the algorithm.

It is for you.

Introducing: The Soulful Sketchbook

A 6-Week Journey into Mixed Media, Mindfulness, and Creative Play.

This course is not about drawing perfect portraits or mastering perspective. It is about the joy of the mess. It is about tearing paper, splashing ink, and documenting your life exactly as it is right now.

In 2026, we are ditching "perfect." We are choosing "real."

What You’ll Discover In the Course

Here’s what we will be doing…

Module 1: The Power of Pen and Paper and the Scavanger’s Palette

We explore why putting pen to paper is such a healing process. And we start by ruining the sketchbook on purpose. We will scribble, spill coffee, and wrinkle the pages. We conquer the fear of the blank page by destroying its perfection immediately. You don’t need a $500 art haul. I’ll teach you how to use what you have—that old receipt in your pocket, the packaging from your online order, and the kids' school glue. We turn what you already have into treasure.

Module 2: Weaving Words and Art

Finding your voice for YOUR journal. Here is where you start to experiment with your thoughts, and turn them into creative visions.

Module 3: Colour, Techniques, Experimentation

Learn to see the world with fresh eyes. Everything is inspiration! Learn to use speech bubbles, basic perspective and colour theory, but make those techniques part of your visual voice!

Module 4: Visual Storytelling

Tell your life story in images! A page, after a page, after a page, tells your story!

Module 5: Deepening your Practice

Learning how to create series, to travel with your sketchbooks, and also how to find inspiration.

Module 6: Maintaining Your Practise: The Long Game

Now that you’ve got a good start, how do you keep going? We will discuss techniques for staying motivated and inspired, and gentle ways to stay consistent.

Exercises:

Each module will have a series of gentle assignments. Depending on your level of time and inspiration, you can decide how much work you do for each module. This allows you to engage as deeply as you want. It allows you to follow your inspiration. And also allows you to return to previous modules to go deeper when you have time in the future.

Why learn from me?

What former students are saying!

This course is actually perfect for me. I have so many art supplies that are just sitting here. This is the kick-start I need.

— Esther

I am finding your art journaling course stimulating - inclusive of comprehensive instructions and activities - with encouragement to be my uniquely creative voice. Thanks!

— Marilyn

I love your videos and find them instructive, inspiring, and encouraging. I also like that it all feels very authentically you. That is a rare bird in the art course world!

— Sarah

I’m an illustrator and author. I’ve published many children’s books, but the secret to my creativity isn’t Photoshop or Procreate.

It’s my messy, chaotic, physical art journal.

It is where my novels are born.

It is where my anxiety goes to die.

And I want to show you exactly how I do it.

Hi, I’m Jane

Who Is The Soulful Sketchbook For?

This course is built for the person who loves the idea of creativity but needs permission to be messy.

This is for you if you are a:

  • Creative Dabbler: You've bought the fancy pens and paints, but they are sitting unused. You love tutorials but get paralyzed when it's time to start.

  • High School or University Art Student: You are under pressure to produce polished portfolio work and have forgotten how to play. This course is a vital sanctuary to deepen your sketchbook practice, experiment outside of class critiques, and discover your authentic visual voice.

  • Burned-Out Professional: You work digitally all day—on screens, in emails, or in highly structured environments. You desperately need a tactile, low-stakes outlet to process your thoughts and reconnect with your hands.

  • Living Creatively: You want to elevate your ordinary life in a creative way. Or you are a creative in another field (musician, quilter, photographer, chef… no limits here) and you want to deepen your relationship with your creative instincts.

  • Reluctant Journaler: You've tried writing journals but found them too restrictive or intimidating. You realize you communicate better through color and collage than through perfect sentences.

  • Perfectionist in Recovery: You need to consciously practice process over product. You are ready to embrace the coffee stains, the crooked lines, and the glorious mistakes that make art truly honest.

  • Seasoned Art Journalers: You’ll likely be familiar with many of the techniques I share in the course, but if you're keen to reinvigorate your journaling with new ideas and extra creativity, you will finish the course inspired!

This Course Is NOT For You If...

We want you to be happy! To ensure this is the perfect fit, please note this course is not designed for those who:

  • Require Mastery: You are looking for an advanced technical course on anatomy, hyper-realism, or professional portfolio development.

  • Seek Perfection: You believe every page must be Instagram-ready and flawless. (We are actively rebelling against this mindset!)

  • Need Rigid Structure: You only want step-by-step follow-along projects. We focus on techniques and prompts that encourage your unique expression.

Questions and Answers…

  • Soulful Sketchbook runs live for SIX weeks. The weekly modules go live on our private website on MONDAYS.

The lessons are a mix of written content, exercises, prompts and prerecorded videos.

You’ll have on-going access to the content for one calendar year so you can work through the content at a pace that suits you.

You do NOT need to be online at a certain time to watch anything as everything is prerecorded for you.

  • To do this course you simply need a journal, notebook or sketchbook and a pencil or pen you enjoying writing and drawing with, plus any materials you’d like to use to decorate your journal. In one of the first modules we will scavenge for supplies, I’m sure you will have more than you expect!

You’ll also need an email account and a computer or tablet to access the course content.

  • Hopefully the beginning of a life-long art journaling practice!

Art journaling is a simple and accessible way to stay connected to our inner self, our body, our memories and our dreams. It's an on-going conversation with the self, something we can do any place at any time.

It's also a very practical way to work through concerns and worries and tune in to our own wisdom.

In the course you'll be guided through lots of useful journaling techniques and plenty of prompts to get you started.

You'll also get sneak peeks into my own journals.

  • That’s completely fine! This course is beginner-friendly. We focus on low-pressure, intuitive techniques. If you can use glue and hold a pen, you can do this. Just channel your inner five-year-old. I promise that the creativity will flow!
